Our next book commercial will focus on realistic fiction. A realistic fiction book is a story that could happen. It doesn't have to be a "true story" but there are no "fantasy elements" in the story. Ramona and Beezus is a good example of realistic fiction. Book Commercials will be the week of Dec. 6-10. Calendar/schedule will come home this week.

Are you reading this summer? I have been reading some great books. The Glass Caslte was quite a page turner! I am in my car waiting for Amelia to finish her horse lesson.

Amelia took an advanced swim class. She learned the 4 strokes, water polo and water rescue. Sydney and I stayed on Friday to watch her. She totally dominated the boys! Sydney decided to brush up on her cart wheels.

We have wild river passes! We like to go with the Spencers and the Grasz's. Here is the gang.

Boy, oh Boy! I've been busy! Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. How is your summer going? Yesterday I took Amelia and Sydney to Knott's Berry Farm. We had a lot of fun. Here are some highlights:

1. Famous Fried Chicken
2. Funnel Cake
3. Montezuma's Revenge
4. Sitting in the soak spot on Big Bear Rapids
5. Amelia and Sydney didn't fight all day! Whoo Hoo!

I went to a blog party! Can you believe there is such a thing! I met people who love to blog about all kinds of things:

1. cupcakes
2. dogs
3. kids and being a mom
4. one lady even unplugged all her technology for a whole year and used a good old fashion journal to write about that experience. She is now blogging about it!

Emily's very sweet mom invited me to the party and I got to give a quick wave to Emily.

I am going to the Salem beach gathering tomorrow so if I see you there - great!

Amelia starts a swim camp next week and in a few week we are going beach camping.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Mrs. Sauer. John Sauer, Mrs. Sauer's husband, passed away this weekend. Even though this is difficult for those of us that are here, we can have joy in the fact that John is seeing Jesus face to face. This is the reason for our faith!

Field Trip! - Tuesday May 4th

A permission slip (for us) and a medical release form (for Key Ranch) for our trip to Key Ranch (a working orange grove and home built at the turn of the [last] century) will come home Monday (April 26). The cost is $16.50 per student—parents are free. Please return the permission slips and admission by Thursday, April 29. Any checks should be made to Salem. The tour begins in Placentia at 9:00 on Tuesday, May 4. We will plan on leaving Salem by 8:20 and returning by 11:30ish. If you can drive, please indicate so on the slip and plan on being at our door by 8:15. We will be returning in plenty of time for lunch. This is a fun trip where the students get to experience how children grew up in Orange County a hundred years ago. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.

Field Day - May 14th - Get the lunch order forms in by Wednesday

We need to review how to select a just right book! Please bring in the following by Wed.

Field Trip this Thursday. We leave for Downtown Disney to see "Oceans" at 11:45 and will return between 2:15 and 2:45. Please bring $4.00 to pre-order a snack pack. Forms have gone home today.

Communities Project is due Friday.

We read a total of 4,483 minutes over Spring Break. AWESOME! To celebrate we will have "Read and Relax" on Friday. You may wear cozy clothes, bring pillows and READ!
